• Welcome!

Whether it's people, landscapes, architecture, or fine art I try to find creative ways to capture the beauty in the mundane. I approach photography from a different perspective, and bring a unique and creative vision to my work.

I work exclusively on-location in the Sheridan area, (at no additional charge!), and love to use the natural light. I am willing to travel for a small additional fee.

If you're looking for a unique approach to photography, with a dash of fun and excitement, you've found the right photographer!

I love the mountains.  I love the wide open spaces and the dense forests full of pine trees.  I love the smell of crisp, fresh air and camp fires.

So, you can imagine my disheartened feelings when I saw this in the Big Horns.  I understand they’re trying to make the roads safer for travelers, but having this huge, orange, steel pile of machinery sitting in the beautiful landscape is ugly.  It’s out of place.  It doesn’t belong there.

I just hope they finish soon, so that nature and wildlife can return home.

3:25

Just an old clock on Main Street downtown, showing the time to 3:25 in the afternoon.  This just proves that it is possible to make images in the middle of the day!  So if you’re not an “Early Bird” or “Night Owl”, not to worry!  You still have to be cognizant of light and shadows, but at least you can be out there doing what you love!!

I love parking garages.  There’s something mysterious and creepy about them.  Maybe it’s from the movies, or just my imagination.  I always catch myself looking over my shoulder and paying attention to the shadows.  I also love all the textures and contrast in garages, which makes for some cool images!

This was on the top level, so at least I had the blue sky above me!

I just love the architecture of old churches and cathedrals.  There aren’t too many of them in Sheridan, WY which is one reason for me wanting to move.  (The other is the weather!)

New Site + Bog!

Well, I’m at it again!  I’m redesigning my website, and hopefully for the last time for awhile.

Once I got my new logo designed by the very talented Elena from FindMyArt.com, I knew I had to spice up the site.  What I didn’t realize was just how much work it was going to be!

I also wanted to have a blog, but didn’t want to have to update two things all the time, so I’ve incorporated the two of them together.  That way I can post new images and keep you up to date with specials, events, or any other news happening at Nate Lawson Photography.

But, this is the second go around at it.  I somehow lost everything I had done up until this morning, so I’m now in the process of redoing it.  What a nightmare!

So if there are links that are broken, I’m sorry.  I’m working as fast as I can right now and I promise to have everything up and running shortly.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding!!
